Rating System
For my rating system I am using starfish in lieu of stars. I figured it's a beach/coastal themed blog so why not change it up...LOL.
5 Starfish - I absolutely loved it! The characters were funny, smart and memorable. It made me laugh out loud, cry, and kept me up at night. It was a page-turner and had me looking in the shadows and sleeping with the lights on.
4.5 Starfish - Excellent book with great character development that kept me turning the pages. Exciting but still missing something.
4 Starfish - Good book but missing background info, not enough character development, or lacking overall detailed descriptions of places, people or things.
3.5 Starfish - Has potential but I need more everything!!
3 Starfish - Had a hard time pushing through. Characters weren't memorable, smart or were annoying. The plot really wasn't original or engaging.
I don't give ratings under 3 starfish due to the fact that I have probably DNF'd the book by this point. I absolutely will not finish reading a book if I dislike it that much or if I feel like it's more of a chore to finish reading it and I'm just not enjoying it. There are too many amazing books that I want to read! However, I will note that I attempted to read the book and that I didn't finish it and will give my reasons as well in a wrap-up post.
